Library at the Dock was celebrated as the stand out winner for the the 2016 Intergrain Timber Vision Awards GRAND PRIX prize. As the judges described, the project utilises timber to its fullest from surface to structure. The result is a quality public building that is “both timeless and modern”.
It is constructed primarily from Cross Laminated Timber (CLT), Glulam and recycled hardwood to achieve a building two-thirds the weight of conventional construction. Environmentally, the building achieved a six-star Green Star rating and optimised passive environmental systems including mixed mode ventilation.
